I really don't see much of that happening, but then I'm not here often so I could be missing it.

I think people just enjoy having a conversation about such things, just as you are doing. It's a little rough to engage in a conversation with someone and at the same time question their motives.

It comes down to what most forums on the internet tend to degrade into: a (urination) contest with one person telling someone else that they are smarter/tougher/sexier/better looking/better at video games/more financially savvy etc ad infinitum.

Some of the biggest prodigal LIers on this forum tend to have some of the biggest egos. The can barely contain themselves telling everyone how great they are and what a great decision they made and how stupid the rest of us are for still being here or not making the great decisions they made.

It isn't about helping anyone or doing a service, it's about stroking your own ego or saying "ner ner ner" to other people.

What did you expect from someone as great as myself?

LOL! "Its a badge of honor to live here, there's no place in the world as good as here, you're just too broke to stay, blah, blah, blah." Whatever.

Enjoy your overcrowded police state with outrageous code enforcement, lousy illegal garage apartments, insane traffic, and egregious taxes. I'll slum it somewhere else, thanks.

You do that. Never said it was a badge of honor and god knows its FAR from perfect, in fact it's a mess but I'm happy here. Enjoy your little 110 degree SW border state paradise.

I have Stockholm Syndrome. My wife kidnapped me, forced me to marry her and live here. Now I think it is great and I am happy. I enjoy Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and birthday parties at Laser Bounce. I am happy to be here. I love my captor...er I mean wife.

PS: Please kill me.

It's alright. You are joining a list of esteemed, down to earth, classy people who are Long Islanders!. You share an allegiance with Joey Buttafuoco, Amy Fisher, Rosie, Howard Stern, Dee Snider, and Lindsay Lohan. You are in an enviable position
