Be ready for houses (mainly huge ones) crammed anywhere there is a few feet of land.
When we moved back here (2 different times) I was most struck how 'dirty' it was compared to the other places I lived--people throw garbage around out of their cars and don't care who sees. |

My bad, I just noticed that the census numbers are for geographical Long Island which includes Brooklyn and Queens.

Wasn't there a stabbing at Huntington High School a few years ago?
Anyway, Huntington like most Long Island districts has seen more "diversity" in the last few years. This trend will continue to accelerate. What those earlier stats don't say explicitly can be implicitly inferred. Those who are leaving are young, white and often educated. They are the prime demographic that has children. So if they are leaving who is going to replace them? Who is going to buy your house that has been on the market for six months? Hmmm....Do you think Smithtown or Commack will even be impervious to the demographic changes that will take place? Long Island is going to see a rapid change in its demographics. Nassau County is only 69% White, once it was well over 90% White. The White percentage will be closer to 65% by 2010 and will probably slide to about 60% or less by 2020. Suffolk County is only 76% White now, was once over 90%, will slide less rapidly, but nevertheless will probably be at 72% White by 2010 and under 70% by 2020. This transformation will bring dramatic changes to all school districts and may lead to real changes; such as consolidation, etc... What difference will it make at that point? But you can bet your bottom dollar that Long Island will look very different very soon. |

But isnt that happening all over the country? Its like that here in Nevada , the public schools here are full of Illegal aliens thats for sure. Not to be a racist, but yes out here in Nevada & Arizona whites are becoming the minority. I also believe i read that Raleigh NC is one of the fastest growing cities for Illegals.
As far as stabbings, out here( Nevada) thats real normal, its sad our local nightly news mentions drive by shootings all the time, and these are in the good & bad areas. The same was going on in Phoenix when we were there. Quote:

Yes, it is happening all over the country. Whites are already a minority in California, Texas, New Mexico, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia. With present rates of immigration, both legal and illegal, expect Whites to be a minority throughout the United States by as early as 2039. The media keeps reporting 2050 as when Whites will become a minority, but present trends show that the transition will happen much earlier - especially if the illegals are given amnesty and Bush Republicans get their open borders legislation through Congress. The sunbelt cities are most likely to have the worst problems. This is due to hyper growth and a general history of poor educational systems. As bad as Huntington has become it is likely to be far better than most school districts in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Orlando, or Atlanta. However, if you are looking to return to Long Island I would advise you to not do it. Long Island's best days are over. If you were already stuck here with the rest of us I would say stay, but unless you have real pressing reason to return I would say no, don't do it. If you want quality schools and a safe place to raise your kids check out the New England states, upstate New York, Pennsylvania (but not Philadelphia), and most of the mid-western states. There seems to be a very high correlation between cold weather and higher SAT scores. Also, most of the mid-west has some of the most affordable housing. I hate to say it, but a large portion of the United States south west is becoming more Mexican than American. So forget about California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas, and large parts of Colorado. What we are going to see is White flight from all these regions back into the heartland. |
