While the school can't get around sinning, the school can effect rules to discourage it as opposed to promoting it.
The school has been around since 1933 and this year, according to various news articles, is the first time ever this request has been made. Is she the first homosexual student to have attended St. Anthony's? Is it possible that earlier gay students brought an opposite gender date but danced with their gay friends? I realize this isn't what you would like to see, but kids have been breaking rules pertaining to prom for years. Alcohol, drugs, sex, etc., have found their way into this rite of passage.
Perhaps the prom should be canceled. Which would have the worst impact on the perception of gays? A canceled prom or asking participants to bring opposite sex dates?
And where have some of these advances brought about by progress lead us to? The brink of nuclear war, altered foods, etc. Some advances are certainly laudable, but not all progress has been to man's benefit.

The brother is not going to suffer eternal damnation if he decided not to discriminate against a lesbian student.

She should be expelled for trying to embarass the school and the sacred, holy, infallible Catholic Church

Nor does the brother actually believe that. It's just church posturing.

So let me get this straight? It's eternally damning to allow a gay student to take a date to the prom, but within church law to cash the parents check and let the student walk the halls. Hmmmmmmm

Come on, weren't you told that "gay money" is just as good as "real money"?

The Holy Roman Catholic Church has determined that the lesbian sinner is in need of education but must not be encouraged to enter into a world of sodomistic behaviour..thereby, requesting the sinner to not attend or find a male date.

Hate the sin, love the sinner.
On a side note, the use of the term "discrimination" in this thread is absolutely hilarious. Makes me remember why I don't listen to most people.

I don't think we ever determined it was not discrimination.
Taken from dictionary.com:
dis·crim·i·na·tion
[dih-skrim-uh-ney-shuh n] Show IPA
–noun 1. an act or instance of discriminating.
2. treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit: racial and religious intolerance and discrimination.
3. the power of making fine distinctions; discriminating judgment: She chose the colors with great discrimination.
#2 makes it sound pretty much like discrimination. Legal discrimination? Yes. We all understand this is a private school. How can you argue that this is not discrimination? Or are you guys just going to laugh and skirt the question.

I can't wait to walk into a kosher deli, order a ham and cheese sandwich with mayo, get turned away and then have the libs cry discrimination... Oh wait, only minorities can be discriminated against... When it's against straight white Christians, it's A O K!
