Petty? Are you kidding?
Do you know what kind of damage a bald tire can do? Or someone driving with a blown light?
Stop only caring about yourself and realize that your lack of care for your 2000lb+ vehicle can screw something up some day.
The nerve of some people
I didn't mean to infer that a balding tire was petty or not dangerous but for some things on that list yes I do think its petty for an officer to be giving tickets. I don't need a ticket to know when to change a balding tire, If I depended on that, I might not be here. I think there are way more serious issues going on for police officers to deal with than a broken light etc, such as gangs, drunk drivers, guns, violence, vandalism, crack dealers etc. JMHO but I think they need to concentrate on those issues more and give the working class who are trying to do the right thing a break. Ok now I'm waiting for the one who's going to try and convince me that a broken tail light is breaking the law and compare it to murder. lmao
BTW I have been driving for over 25 years and have an impeccable driving record and it blows my mind how many drivers don't know the rules of the road and can't even figure out how to get through a four way stop sign amongst other things.

Do you really think people would actively fix these things if police/inspectors did not enforce them?
I honestly think people would run their tires AND breaks down to the steel, and drive without lights, just to save a buck.
And obviously your son needs a ticket to know when to change a lightbulb.

Pulling people over for so called petty stuff leads to thousands of arrests each year and is another major reason it is encouraged besides safety and for revenue.

gotta love the new toys cops use to read license plates as they come and go and being able to get an alert on a car's or motorists current status!
i know that, i currently drive a truck with out of state plates that dont require them to be on the front.
but we are talking about new york, not any other state.
At one point CA cracked down on CA residents who lived in that state but drove vehicles registered in another. Hopefully NY doesn't take a play from their book.
