Dammit, I knew I shouldn't have painted that Islanders logo on the front of that gnome's 'shirt' and then replaced his pointy cap with a goalie mask.......!
That's right, you shouldn't have.
I love your pink boxer shorts, by the way...very fetching.
LOL, well actually what I was expecting was Dedalus to come up with a creative "prize" for the poster having the most ridiculous property taxes... probably something along the lines of a 24kt Gold-Plated (insert appropriate object here) ... wait, maybe I should rephrase that...
anybody here have a 2 family home? Or does anybody know if the taxes are double with a 2 family home? I ask becasue my parents want to move in with us, going half, but some told us the LI taxes on a 2 family might be high, while others said they will be the same.

Not sure. Is it a "M/D" or a true 2 family? I think that may make a difference. Not sure how many of them there are.
"All New Yorkers who own and live in their one-, two-, or three-family home, condominium, cooperative apartment, manufactured home, or farm dwelling are eligible for STAR on their primary residence."

A true two family the taxes are a bit higher, but not double or not even an additional half of what you pay (such as you pay 10,000 for a single family and then 15,000 for a two family).
Taxes are usually about 1,000-2500 more from what I have seen.
