When you looking for a quote, and someone is honest in saying that no matter what month you decide to get your a/c installed, the pricing doesn't change. This is true, due to the fact that the distributor's don't lower their pricing. There are companies out there that will tell you anything you want to hear, but when you break it down and compare apples to apples, it all works out the same in the end. Ex: say a company did your neighbors house for $8,000.00 for the month of July, and then do an install in your house in Dec for $7,000.00 (1,000.00 less)how unfair would that be to the neighbor that referred you? so i would more want to stick with a company the keeps the pricing fair all year around and doesn't take advantage of people in a heat crisis.
We used T.F. O'Brien. They weren't the cheapest but they did very nice work. Father and son team did the install in three days and it worked perfectly from the first time they turned it on. Very friendly and personable and I trusted leaving them in the house while I was at work. Even the electrical sub they used did nice work. Carrier equipment throughout, 3-ton unit, 16 SEER in a split level.

sounds perfectly fair to me. have you been in an attic in a 90+ degree day at noon? I would think, it would take longer to do something when you're fighting off heat stroke, people have to take more breaks, and the people working will work slower. Also, you have to probably hire additonal workers to meet the large demand during the hot months. the colder months, it may make sense to take a break even job to keep your best guys working with very little profit on the job.
its supply and demand. Plenty of businesses take jobs just to meet overhead in the off season. I know my company does, I'm not in contracting, but off season work is significantly cheaper than on season work, and its not unfair, we just don't have additonal capacity on season, but off season we'd rather work at 40% off and have cash coming in the door, than have people sitting and doing nothing.
