Police: Bone found by child appears human (http://www.newsday.com/long-island/suffolk/police-bone-found-by-child-appears-human-1.2958692 - broken link)

A bone fragment a first-grader found on a school outing to a Bellport Village beach appears to be human, police said Wednesday.

The bone fragment was found at Ho-Hum Beach last Wednesday by a South Country School District first-grader on an outing from Patchogue.

Bellport waterfront director Richard Rieb said Tuesday that the children were looking for seashells when the first-grader "came over to me with a resealable plastic bag with the bottom half of a jawbone" in it. He said about 90 students were on the trip to the Bellport Village beach.

The Suffolk medical examiner's office said that "preliminarily, it's a human jawbone," according to police. Police said they would not have more information until tests on the bone fragment are completed.
Sounds like the beach and the surrounding area need to be thoroughly searched. A piece of a jawbone in a plastic bag generally indicates some sort of body dumping (aka a murder).

What kind of psycho saves the body until it is a skeleton and then takes it apart and packages pieces of it in plastic bags!!

There's alot of sick creeps out there obviously. Hopefully it's not yet another serial killer. Im hoping it's one of the two that we already have (Gilgo and Manorville). It could also be organized crime related for all we know.

Nevermind stepping on hazardous waste at the beach. Now we have to worry about cadavers and body parts.

Fortunately Bellport (And South Country SD) has such a horrible reputation finding human remains will not have a negative impact.

I'm most shocked that there's a beach called "Ho-Hum Beach".

Why would anyone want to live near Ho-Hum beach? Why didn't they name it Fantastic Beach, Splendid Beach or Awesome Beach? Were they just being incredibly honest? Is this beach really ho-hum and average?
