Hi all.
I walk home from high school everyday. Lately I've been getting out late and taking a shortcut through an elementary school ground. Schools dismissed there to but there is still the Y and there afterschool extra help classes and clubs. When I walk through a certain part, theres a group of janitors hanging out. At first it seemed like they were just talking, but now I've noticed they are smoking. I know it's afterschool hours, but still, theres a lot of kids there. Should I Say Something????
I wouldn't confront them about it, but if you believe the smoke is near the children and they are breathing it in, then a simple phone call to the admin offices is probably the right thing to do.
As a head custodian in an elementary school I would want to know if my crew was "hanging out and smoking" especially if district policy banned smoking. If there is a politely placed phone call to the facilities office first should get this corrected.

You should definitely report it. But don't make it obvious that you were the one reporting it..
When I was still in High School a few years ago I used to take the bus home (9th-11th grade), we would pass by a nearby Elementary School and there were NURSES smoking, yes Nurses! They would always smoke behind a car but it's still clearly in view if you were in the school and yes, classes in the elementary school were still in session.
Agreed, definitely make the phone call. Smoking on school property is banned in most, if not all districts on LI. What makes it worse is that these teachers, nurses, and other school staff are supposed to be serving as role models and it's not the right image to be seen nowadays by smoking.
Oh my god, of course report it. Save those students from certain death. They might get a whiff of tobacco smoke and be dead before they make it to high school....where they can then hang out with their friends and inhale from bongs. They need pure lungs for high school.

Using this line of reasoning.....I do not think fat people should be employed by schools either........I don't think they should be sending the message to kids that it is OK to be fat!

Wonderful idea...and may I add in there that any school employee eating such unhealthy food such as pizza should be terminated. After all, this is all for the children.
