Default apartment advice

I have been looking for apartments in the seaford, massapequa, levittown, bethpage, bellmore, merrick, farmingdale area for awhile now. It seems for a nice 1 bedroom with utilities included , i am going to be paying $1,250- $1,400 a month. I have about 35k saved up right now and I make about $55,000 a year with a raise to 65k coming in 6 months.

It seems I am no where near having enough money to be able to buy a decent house anytime soon, and I dont want to live with my parents forever. I am 27 now, would you guys try out renting for now and worry about a house later, or continue to save for however long it takes to get be able to buy?

Rent cheap, live cheap and create a larger savings.

Can't get a luxury apartment, save for a house, AND make what you make on Long Island.

I agree with lubby - find a 2-bedroom condo or co-op and go for that. Just make sure it will be a relatively easy sell when it's time to move.

I dunno. I'm younger and making more, and I am stuck in a 1br.. I guess you need to factor in expenses like car loan, student loans, etc.

imo live within your means.

Are you interested in a gorgeous studio apt one block away from the beach? It's buy only, not rent, but with the right down payment it'll cost you less than $1k a month (I pay $970)- send me a PM if interested. Long Beach apartment.

Still trying to sell yours?

The OP stated he has savings of $35K - that would have to cover downpayment and closing costs. Your place might be too expensive for him
