Wm Floyd:Students receiving free or reduced price lunches 39.4% and that area is mostly White.

William Floyd is not as white as it once was. Last reported at 73% white by NY Dept. of Ed. report card for 2005-2006. William Floyd's rate of decline has been faster than most other places. Large influx of mestizos in recent years is responsible. Expect William Floyd to join South Country as a majority non-white district in the near future.

How does that compare to NBab?

Can you at least see the economic link to failure in a district or is it only race for you?

yup its another classic example of what IS wrong with Long Island, the kid's family lives in Bunker Hill the mobile/manufactured home park, so here these parents were willing to live in a trailer in a "good" district instead of buying or renting in a "bad" district probably feeling proud of themselves that their kid was being well educated. The problem is the kid was so mocked & tortured by the spoiled brats living over there that he was depressed enough to talk about suicide & decided that murdering the kids that mocked him most would make him feel better.
Its a classic example of EVERYTHING that is wrong with people on this island & how the example of conspicous consumption & "affluezna" is destroying our young people. They have watched their parents keeping up w/the joneses for so long, they had no idea what the differnce between right & wrong is. They truly think the size of your vinyl mcmansion or the leased car you drive defines the quality of human being you are.
They have no mercy, humility or tolerance.
Its a sad, sad thing.

I suspect that if we adjusted the school statistics by race and income we would find that white students are still better than black students. There are more differences between races than just skin color. Don't believe the PC brainwashing liberal media.

I can ASSURE you its WAY MORE WHITE than you'd care to believe.
as a young WHITE single mother living in a "good" school district the free lunch form was pushed down my throat every year, because as one adminstrator said to me
"we don't have many people that qualify, but you do & it benefits ALL the kids when we have a few that receive free lunch"

That is part of the problem with using free lunch numbers.

Many districts try to boost their free lunch numbers in order to qualify for additional federal aid. Also, and this will ****-off anyone who has a kid taking an advance placement class, any kid who qualifes for free lunch only pays $5/exam instead of the full $90/exam. Another problem is the fact that many people work off the books and do not report their true income, thereby qualifying for free lunch. On the flip side there are many people too proud to accept government handouts even though they qualify. So the free lunch statistics are not bullet proof.

Overall it is a necessary program for those in need, but you do have to be really poor to qualify for even reduced lunch. Moderator cut: personal - off topic

That is shady, although imperfect ,I do think the #s are fairly true to form as far as District poverty goes.

When I was looking at Districts in CT....I would use that as a guide and it was very accurate.
