I heard Unified is good. In fact we may use them for siding. Babe Roof seems like a good co. We got an estimate on a roof from them 3 years ago but decided to go with a friend of ours for less money.
May want to take Shells Only off that list, I saw them working on a roof in Hicksville last year and the workers sounded drunk and they definately were not speaking english!
Used Clock Roofing (now Dean Clock Contracting) for my two previous homes and was very satisfied with their work. They were busy when I needed "emergency" help on my current house and a leak forced me to act quickly. (would never recommend the one I ended up hiring only because they could accommodate my immediate need )
Dean's is a family business (his dad did my first roofing job), and Dean is as honest as they come. 631-581-1715 (he might even remember my name )
When one of my daughters had a problem with her roof, he came over, fixed it (not too big a job) and charged her a nominal amount. Which is not to say that his price will be the lowest... but he deserves what he charges!

Jonny you need to make a note before you comment that you have something against immigrants. Were you sure they were drunk and speaking a different language? or you think you heard it? It's amazing to see you just mentioned take a company off your list because of something you overheard. The OP requested a good reliable company. Was that roof done correctly was the homeowner quoted a good price? Do you have any personal experience with this company?

Honestly, if any roofer is drunk, chances are he's going to fall off the roof.

Yeah becuase they are the only ones willing to work hard and sweat in the heat. No big deal as long as the job is done right.
