We are looking at the houses near the clinton road (behind the mall). It seems that the tax are much much lower than the other areas in the garden city. The area should be in the garden city school district. Anyone knows the reason? Is it a good neighborhood? Thanks!
"Behind the mall" where? Raymond Court? That's GC schools. Not such a great street for many reasons. If you are talking about the area off Clinton south of Stewart, that's also GC schools. I'm not aware of those houses being taxes lower for any reason, unless they are original homes that have never been updated.

The Village of Garden City has a different border than does the "Garden City, NY 11530" ZIP Code postal zone (i.e., a place can have a "Garden City, NY 11530" mailing address and not be in the Village of Garden City and a place can be in the Village of Garden City and have other than a "Garden City, NY 11530" mailing address): places that have a "Garden City, NY 11530" mailing address that are not in the Village of Garden City are in the Hamlet of East Garden City, the Hamlet of Garden City South, the Hamlet of Franklin Square and the Village of Stewart Manor; and, at the same time, there are places in the Village of Garden City that have a "Mineola, NY 11501" and "New Hyde Park, NY 11040" mailing address. (The Nassau County county seat is in that part of the Village of Garden City that has a "Mineola, NY 11501" mailing address.)
I'm not a fan of that section because of the traffic on Old Country Road and Clinton/Glen Cove Roads...all those streets get used as cut-throughs ... price probably reflects this....but there is nothing inherently wrong with that area. I agree about making sure the taxes you are seeing include the village tax....when my listing went up last year it showed my taxes as $7,000 - which didn't include village taxes!
