You've just rendered your County useless.Wooooooooooooohooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who needed all those pesky jobs and adjacent revenues/ratables anyway.
Dumb da dumb dumb DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations on your "bedroom community" , there's now no longer a single unique reason to go there. Looks like we'll have to continue to bypass the transitional zone for concerts and such.
We'll just head out East or go to the City.
Hope the Isles come to Suffolk. Its a crime if they left due to Nashole logic.

Typical quote from you. Is it really dead because if this vote? I doubt it.

That's fair Jetties.
I'm stunned.
Maybe when taxes hit 20k for a 40x80 hiranch, Nassau will realize it's out of land and if it's ever to get the burden off the backs of the homeowner it will need to embrace these types of projects.
Suffolks not too far off either.
I'm very disappointed in our stupidity.

I guess we'll just head out East or go to the City.

public money for arenas and stadiums has been a proven money loser all over this country.
the only thing you said that makes any sense is moving the building further east. The home of the Islanders should be more accessible to those in Suffolk IMO.
I don't typically agree with Crookhaven on anything ever. However, as a former Nassau resident and current Suffolk resident, I join in him in bemusement over the long term results of the no vote for Nassau residents.

Really? I didn't see where they promised that the tax revenues the new arena generated would be used to reduce my taxes vs going into some general slush fund.
As a poll worker, and taxpayer, I called the county to inquire why I was being paid for this when a month later, it was primary day and I would have to be paid yet again. You all know the answer.
I can tell you from what I heard yesterday ( or rather overheard) the opposition was not so much to the project as much as the process and the underlying facts that were "missing". Many people stated that this election appeared to be "too sneaky, the wool was being pulled over their eyes with a summer vote, did they think we didn't know that."
I can also say many people said they want the jobs, and the venue but not the way this was being explained, there was too much left unclear. The fear of escalating taxes won this one, based upon what I heard.

ah yes, all those out of work ticket takers and popcorn sellers were really counting on this project. What are they going to do now?
Mangano touting all of the "jobs" this project was going to create is a joke. the only "real" jobs would be the trade union workers who have a new place for their 7 daily coffee breaks for 2-3 years. And how many of those workers would even be Nassau residents?

That is an interesting perspective. I think there were many details left out and the rush to do it now did made people question it. I am sure they will figure out a way to do it.

Calm your nerves, Crooks. This vote is not the end, but the beginning of this process. A YES verdict would've started the borrowing process.. while we can still borrow at these record low rates. But it most likely wouldn't have gone through anyway even if the Yes's won.
There's a plan B. Stay tuned.
