Once Jay Jacobs and the rest of today's opponents figure out a way to look dandy in all the dealings, some other brilliant plan will come along that keeps the Coliseum open -- with the Islanders as anchor tenant -- and everyone will smile for the cameras.

We already had this. Lighthouse Project. Town of Hempstead GOP machine led by Kate Murray stopped all of that.

We get it, you have an anti GOP anti Kate Murray agenda. Anything else you have to add to the conversation?

Well this whole issue would have been solved years ago if they didn't block the Lighthouse Project.

Are you sure about that?
The Lighthouse plan only called for a renovation of the current building. That's because...ok maybe I said this already...WANG DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE TEAM. They need to tear down the coliseum and start fresh.

I won't stick up for Murray, but I think no matter who was Town Sup or in power, the little 'City' next door and Simon were the main reasons it didn't go through...

Congratulations on your "bedroom community" (BTW wasn't Queens supposed to be a bedroom community?), there's now no longer a single unique reason to go there. Looks like we'll have to bypass the transitional zone for concerts and such.
I guess we'll just head out East or go to the City.
Hope our Isles come to Suffolk. Its a crime if they left due to Nashole Nimby logic.

Yes let Suffolk County foot the bill for a new stadium they are in better shape financially and plenty of space, let them come up with the $800M after all this is a new project.

Not in love with TOH and would love to see them dissapear but lighthouse was far from a free ride, sewage, roads, waste, traffic would have made that area into Queens and taxpayers would fund all the infrastructure and live with the congestion. Stating that Wang was paying for everything is a gross overstatement of the facts.
Islanders are not going anywhere, we have seen Wang 1,Wang 2 waiting for Wang 3, do you honestly believe Kansas City or Winnepeg is really an option??

Well nothing is a free ride, but it would have been a vast improvement over what is there now. For pretty much any new arena to be successful you also need the surrounding area to be successful and to be a draw.

Honestly? If I were Wang, I'd wash my hands of it and the Isles would indeed be in Winnepeg or Kansas City. When it comes to NIMBYs, politics, progress, and tantrum-throwing, Nassau is a joke. Kate Murray and her ilk proved that.

Great idea! I would go see events in Suffolk! Raise your property taxes and pay for it, Suffolk County residents!
