Hello all what is this thread about can someone tell me
We lost a nuke plant we never had and voted for/against never having what we thought we had but didn't. Or maybe we did have it but thought we didn't. This is somehow similar to today's BS vote where Mangano, Wang & co are trying to convince NIFA that the fate of 77 acres should be decided by a bunch of concerned sheep, err, hockey fans on a Monday in August. The entire issue could be rectified by legalizing weed.
How about a 77 acre marijuana field? The adjacent bars/restaurants/fast food joints (no pun intended) would really thrive then. The tax from the weed would help get the county out of red ink and who would care about the Islanders? You have to be into something much harder than weed to tolerate the way the team is mismanaged as it is.
Wow this picture looks familiar. I cannot wait for this to turn into another Shoreham. People remember the last time Long Island was up in arms and voted to not go through with a major project(ok maybe not the last time more like ever time) Shoreham How is that working out for us.
1. We pay the highest electric rate in the country
2. There is still no way off the island in the event of an emergency
3. There is a nuclear reactor at Brookhaven already
The best part the is the wisdom used to close the plant.
We will pay a little each in our bill to pay off the plant (not factoring inflation and the rising cost of electric) and we have a plant that after 30 years only half has been paid off. Talk about generations of debt all because no one wanted to pay for it or have it in their backyard.
Note before you mention Japan there is a plant built with the same design at Brookhaven
Im absolutely certain that #1 would always be true no matter what the source of Energy.

Just build a couple dozen White Castles near the weed farm and Nassau's deficit would disappear!
