Can anybody name one Hollywood NCPD TV series?

Other than a few episodes of Law & Order (with my "hero" Vincent D'onofrio) that were based on the Pelosi case and the one where the guy killed an immigrant cleaning girl and encased her in cement in his house and then sold his home and the new person found the body) , what would a show dealing with SCPD or NCPD be about ????

HEY!!! There is a new thread: LI crimes to remember......(is that allowed with the new rules?)

Make it a new post. It isn't about the topic of whether or not LI police are overpaid.
Thanks

If you have filed 5 reports against your neighbor, what is the status of the investigation? Have you spoken to a detective about this?

The detective said that the neighbor can say what he wants, it is freedom of speech, he can blast any song he wants whatever the lyrics are. He can spit at me and my 3 year old because he will deny it. He can call my disabled daughter a retard because he will deny it. He can run after my car and yell obscenities as long as he is on his property. These are the answers I get from SCPD detective.

There is a limit to what he can do, freedom of speech notwithstanding. If there is a pattern of behavior that continually annoys or alarms you, the individual can be arrested for harassment. The key to it is that it must be continuous (ie, must occur more than once.)

Keep a journal or log of all of his harassing activities and then go the the police precinct and request that the individual be arrested. You have the right to sign a complaint against him for harassment and request that arrest.

To put things in perspective a policeman is killed every 48 hours in this country. So IMHO they aren't paid nearly enough.

The Problem with your (above) statistic is that it applies to cities where the cops really do deserve the pay that our Suffolk Cops are getting because they put their life on the line everyday. Howver the Suffolk, Town and Village cops do not have this same situation:

George A. Frees(April 6, 1971) – Fatally shot at the scene of a gun call. His partner was seriously injured but later returned to work. His widow and three young children survived Officer Frees.

Albert A. Willetts (June 3, 1971) – While on patrol on a motorcycle, Officer Willetts
was hit by a motor vehicle and thrown from his motorcycle. He died as a result of injuries sustained. His widow and three young children survived him.
Frank D. Cataldo(November 3, 1971) – While assisting at a motor vehicle accident, Officer Cataldo was hit by another vehicle whose driver had lost control of the vehicle. His widow and five children survived Officer Cataldo.

Joseph Hawkins (August 13, 1972) – Died from a stroke he suffered while on duty. A widow and two sons survived him.

William DeRosa (January 31, 1976) – Was killed by an accidental shotgun blast while securing a crime scene. A widow and two young sons survived him.
Jack Burkhardt (March 13, 1977) – While investigating a burglary in progress at a shopping center, Officer Burkhardt fell and died from his injuries. A widow and three sons survived him.

Ralph Sorli (August 14, 1977) – While crossing Route 25A to investigate a business alarm, Officer Sorli was hit and killed by a passing vehicle. A widow and three sons survived him.

Carmine Macchia(June 15, 1978) – Was killed in a car crash while in pursuit of a stolen vehicle. Survived by his wife.

Larry Devine (August 22, 1981) – Officer Devine was shot in the back and confined to a wheelchair for a number of years. Eventually, he died from complications as a result of his injuries.

Dennis J. Wustenhoff (February 15, 1990) – Detective Wustenhoff was killed when his unmarked county vehicle exploded. His murder case is still unsolved. A widow and three young children survived him.

John Jantzen (April 21, 1991) – While off duty and unarmed, John confronted an armed assailant. The assailant managed to kill John and well as two other people. A widow and six week old son survived him.

James Hutchens (July 2, 1992) – While working in the police garage he suffocated from exhaust fumes. A widow and one son survived him.

Henry J. Stewart (July 11, 1992) – While responding to a neighborhood disturbance was dragged by a car and died from his injuries. A widow and three sons survived him.

John Venus (November 20, 1994) – Lost his life in an on duty motor vehicle accident. Survived by his wife.

Timothy J. Henck (August 6, 1995) – Succumbed to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident while pursuing a burglary suspect. A wife and infant daughter survived him.

Edwin Hernandez (July 27, 2004) – Died as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Survived by his wife and two children.

Above are 15 Police killed since 1971 which equals 15 police killed in the past 30 years wihich equals every 2 years one cop dies. There are more deaths for Construction Workers and Landscaper workers than cops.

Plus if you notice many of the unfortunate deaths were due to vehicle accidents...

Default Cops

That is a cheap shot and has nothing to do with the PBA Contract push down the throats of every taxpayer in Suffolk. We have the lowest crime area in the Country with the highest paid Police Departments..... That is the issue. Not the individual deaths that are sad and unfortunate but there are many more Trades and Jobs that have a much higher rate of Casualties and these trades mostly do not have the Salaries, Benefits, and Retirement after 20 years Package that the Cops have.

This argument was always about what the market will bear and not the value of a human life.

As taxpayers are we overpaying for police servces that could be rendered for considerably less?

I believe we could fill those jobs for 1/3rd less with zero impact on our safety or security.
(In fact we could probably afford a few more feet on the street with that type of cost savings)

What you believe is irrelevant. All of the police departments in Nassau and Suffolk have valid and legal labor agreements which stipulate their salaries.
