My HS class is planning a reunion and we do not want to use the Reunion planning company which makes a lot of money but offers minimal in return. We don't want to be stuck in a hotel ballroom.
Currently we are trying to establish a list of places which offer indoor/outdoor facilities for better flow of the group. While there is no head count as yet (fledgling effort at this point in time) we probably have to look for a space which will accommodate 200 +/-.
Given that we have such a varied group here, I was hoping you might be able to give me some insight to places you've been to for a catered event that you liked.
We are open to any and all suggestions, but would like to avoid hotel ballrooms and wedding factories.
When is the reunion? Sunken meadow has a place you can rent and you can sit indoors and out and it's on the beach. I went there for a party once.
My old company had their summer party there once....but any park with large outdoor shelters would work. Bethpage State Park has picnic areas that you can rent - went to a company party there too.
I know Meehan's in Huntington has a large party room that can accomodate I think up to 200 people....we were thinking of it for our reunion (but I'm from HUntington....would be good for before and after parties too).
Lido Beach mushrooms. You need a resident to reserve and there is a fee but if it rains you are protected. It is on the beach too.
I had to google that -- very cool looking! Don't think we have a resident in our group, bu if we do, it could make for a very cool day after reunion picnic area.
