True

They own ELI(Good amount of Brookhaven too)

Signal covers most of Suffolk now.

I'm disgusted with radio too.
WEMP will be a failure, if any have tuned into to hear the train wreck it is right now. It seems if you're a man radio could care less, they only want the rich wives and stupid girls with money to blow. Yet most of these people dont listen to the radio at all! They should bring back WRXP forthwith!
NYC has to have the worst radio stations in the country. They all play the same ghetto pop like Kesha, Usher,
I've gotten pretty much turned off the whole dance music scene ever since it embraced hip hop.
I, too like rock music, esp the new wave acts and some of the newer stuff like Kings of Lean and Coldplay.
The problem is here in Nassau one can only pick up the NYC stations (which mostly suck). Of which I only listen to Q 104.3 and CBS FM. But they have a tendency to play the Beatles, Stones, Joel to death. They leave out groups like The Split Enz, The Cure, Psychadelic Furs (anyone who grew up with 'LIR remembers).
WBAB comes in weak here but its the same situation as with the Q. WEHM is pretty good and so is 99.1 WPLR when I'm out east. WRCN used to be good but if anyone's noticed since they were sold to JVC (the same wonderful company that owns Party 105) that they hardly play any 80s rock anymore its all 70s, and the audio is unbearably poor, due to JVC being too cheap to pay for a decent STL (studio to transmitter link), instead they are streaming audio via IP.
Down in S.Jersey the radio choices are much better, with the stations from Philly as well as 105.7 The Hawk and 103.7 The Shark.
Think about how many stations we have on LI that play that Pit Bull, Kesha crap..
In NYC you have 92.3, 95.5, 97.1, 100.3, 102.7, 103.5, 105.1, and 106.7 all playing that crap (how anyone can call Lady Gaga "Lite" is beyond me)
On LI you have 106.1, 97.5, 98.3, 105.3, 101.7 playing it. Then throw in the garbage thats on 94.3.
Everything here is too damn urban. Well, I guess it only reflects what's happening to the area.

when in nassau, on the north shore (which I rarely am), 107.1 is a very good option.

it's out of white plains.

Yeah, but The Breeze and The Peak seem to fight with eachother here in Westbury resulting in static.

Ain't it the truth. Radio has been going downhill for years and years now. It's no better across the country. I got satellite radio and it's much better but nothing like the "golden age." Now I sound old.

I miss the old days of Vin Scelsa, Meg Griffin, Scott Muni on WNEW. Paco on 92 KTU. Sunday nights with Dr. Demento. Dan Neer on WPIX. Loved WLIR/DRE. Nothing like that anymore.

I suppose there's WEHM East Hampton - my favorite station of all but its adult alternative that's not going to give you some of the harder rocking stuff that RXP played.
hob333, I'll give that a try, thanks.

[Edit: Neither home radios pick it up. There's a lot of weak signal static around this area of the dial with only WSHR 91.9 (nearby Lake Ronkonkoma) and a couple hiphop/dance/girly music stations coming in clearly.

I've been streaming WEHM and checking-out the playlist...it's okay...best for relaxing and as an alternate to WBAB 102.3 (which I listen to for the Roger & JP morning show...my daily dose of red neck).]

Good station but I'm not surprised it failed.

NYC would do well with a station half as good as EHM.

FUV holds it's own. I wish we had old school Scelsa NEW or original WLIR back.

EHM at least takes chances. Gotta respect that.

That I can agree with you on!

Having the old WLIR back would be great! WLIR was one of things I liked about LI when I moved here back in the 90's.
