I'm always suspicious if I am looking for a condo and there are eight photos of the complex's swimming pool & sign outside and only two of the actual home.

see you're saying it yourself, you need to see it because you want nothing left to the imagination. Have you tried taking a good pic of a small bathroom yet? You'll have a different opinion of these wide angle pics if you are selling your own. We put ourselves in the buyer's shoes while doing it too. Do they really pass up our house if we offend their intelligence with a wide angle pic? So what if they realize it? So what if people realize most music uses auto-tune? Does it still sound ok?

There's currently an active listing in Stony Brook or Setauket which shows pictures of Avalon, WMHS, Emma Clark, the beaches and a few other local spots which aren't remotely close to one another or the listing.

I like ads like the following. There are three pictures: One of the lobby and two of the pool...That's it!

Sometimes at the time a listing is taken, the home is not yet "presentable", so agents might focus on other things in the interim - in this instance on the amenities and the very nice lobby. In the case of a house, just an outside shot or two. (I just did that for a new listing, until all the "stuff" is removed or put away.)
If nothing has been added after a two week period, well, let's just say this about the agent:
