I just love how this News 12 Weather Bimbo stands in the surf and tells everyone else they should go inside.

There should be some long lines tomorrow returning those new unused generators..

Very happy for the sake of Long Island that this storm wasn't anywhere near as bad as they predicted..

Isent over yet, but yeah by and large this was a dud. I think Irene only just made landfall in Coney Island in Brooklyn about a half hour ago. Hit land as a tropical storm with 65mph winds.

It's getting there...dry air killed the rain on the south side of the center. Gusts to 60 mph is probably the most we'll see at this point.

Highest winds gusts...

91 mph in Sayville - 7am
82 mph in Long Beach - 5am
74 mph in Farmingdale - 5am
71 mph in Center Moriches - 3am

Unofficial gusts 70-75 across southern Nassau based on tree damage.

I thank God for "over reactions." This hurricane was a category 3 and had a chance of becoming a cat. 4. I can't imagine a cat. 3 hurricane hitting NY without catastrophic consequences if (extreme) necessary preparations are not made.

I think that the city, county, and state governments did exactly as they should have and did not overreact. We lucked out.

Oh please! There was never even a slight chance of a category 3 hitting us. You people are so ridiculous. We knew from day one all we would get was a tropical storm/category 1.
