By & large, I agree. That's a lot of work out there. Crud, imagine trying to sink a new pole and stabilize it in this waterlogged ground, for instance. But...
As I posted above, why'd LIPA bother restoring a golf course that has no bearing or impact on the power grid? Are golf & cocktails an essential priority? And I doubt what I saw was the only I-Know-Somebody-High-Up misallocation of resources. Get Main Street going so folks can get food & fuel. Get residential next. Then worry about recreation for bored trust fund babies later, eh?
They knew nice weather was coming in after the storm, so LIPA wanted to make sure the elite could get their rounds in...
Insurance Companies will not allow workers on poles with over 18 MPH winds. Also the line men have one union and tree trimmers have another,God forbid either one do another's job description.if you don't believe that ask any major construction union person, its a fact.

Please report this to the county your elected reps if it is true.
1) 36 hours and your complaining???!!!??? A lot of people will be without power for a week. As I write this over 250,000 people still don't have power. Could you be anymore egocentric?
2) I cannot believe the way people are complaining about LIPA. Over a HALF A MILLION people were without power. They have cut that in 1/2 in just 2 days. What do people expect? It's not like there is a switch they can turn on and are just refusing to do so. It is mind boggling what people's expectations are. Yes it is frustrating without power, especially of you have young kids, but give me a break on this whining about LIPA.
I'd bet anything you were someone who said the storm was no big deal when it was coming, and now you're whining it took too long to get power back. Some of you people are unreal.
There have been crews out there working 16 hour shifts since Sunday. If your town hasn't cleared trees then LIPA can't come do their work, so the towns have dropped the ball too. If you look at the power outage map on Tuesday several areas have had thousands of people's electric restored. They can't be everywhere at once, what do you expect one LIPA worker for every household on Long Island?
And BTW, just because you don't see the trucks in your neighborhood doesn't mean they aren't there. They could be working on your transformer that is located ten blocks away from you.
LIPA personnel have been doing a solid job, glad to read a post supporting them.

Maybe some of the LIPA execs belong to it. (Even though they work for a "non-profit" I am sure their contracts treat them ... using OUR money ... like any other "corporate titans.")
