how do you figure that? It's 20 a week to do lawn and they did it 4 times in august. It's the same bill I got last time.

You said it was $120 in total...

$20/week x 4 weeks = $80...hence the $40 "surcharge" I joked about.

Yup, that's why everyone was joking with you about the math.

Mine is $30/week as well, but I also had that large surcharge this month.

Also, does anybody else get charged with a monthly fuel surcharge?

Fuel surcharges? For landscapers? Is it a big company?

I know my car service charges those for times when gasoline gets very high.

I think even rent-controlled/rent-stabilized tenants in NYC get charged those by their landlords to help pay for the heat.

What ELSE is on your landscaping bill?

Nope, local guy that has a pretty large client base.

The fuel surcharge runs between $5-$8 month depending on gas prices - been stuck at $8 for a while now. I haven't really paid much attention to that since it's not a ton of money and the biggest costs (i.e. weekly charge and spring/fall clean-ups) are pretty much in line with local averages, maybe a touch higher. This hurricane clean-up surcharge was the last straw though.

I just got the Irene cleanup surcharge for $75.00
I don't even have trees on my property which really stinks!!!!

What gets me is that when I pay my landscaper, the check is made out to his company. This surcharge bill said to make it out to his name. .

And I don't have a large lot, 60 x 100.

I don't know how big your lawns are but $30/week sounds like a lot. And here I am skimping on cellphone service (no 3G/4G data plan for $30/mo). Maybe I should do it now since I already save on the landscapers every month. Thanks for justifying it for me! Takes me an hour and 1 large bag of grass every Monday afternoon... I wish I got $30 for that.

If I were elderly I think I'd pay $20 max and I've seen them around.

BTW, I only had a handful of leaves sprinkled on my lawn from Irene... got crazy lucky.

I have 88x100 lot and 30 a week may seem like alot but wuth my hubby's bad back and the fact that i have no desire to cut my lawn, I'll gladly pay someone else to do it.
