never lost power, DirecTV went out for maybe a total of 10 min through the heart of the storm. I know the cable local to me was down for 3 or 4 days, had people come over to watch the Yankees games because they couldnt see them at their houses.
we lost power sunday morning and it didn't return until the following sunday afternoon. LIPA kept stringing us along promising restoration and every day they said they would be on our block they never showed up. I must have called about 20 times. At one point a crew was scheduled - this was the following saturday, and then at the last minute was diverted due to some emergency elsewhere. I was so fed up. They kept saying they would be able to do repairs at night but that was a total lie. They never showed up at night. The worst thing was that right across the street from us they had power restored one day after the storm.
36 hours. Went out before 2am Sunday and and didn't come back till just after 2pm on Monday. Big tree took out a primary line that served most of Westbury. The whole town (more or less the length of Post Ave) was out for 36 hours. A simple backfeed from the NE was all that was needed to route around the downed tree, but it still took awhile. But we were the lucky ones, much of Smithtown was out until Tuesday, and Glen Cove till Thursday.
My power was out for almost one minute, and then I had to reset all the clocks in my house. What a hassle !!
