I'm glad that people are finally starting to wake up to this fact. The editorial goes on to say the unions might refuse to give back, thus crippling the county.

Quote:
One way or another, the unionized employees of Nassau County are going to have to start contributing to their medical care, and the considerable overtime, excessive days off and spiraling salaries embedded in the arbitrated contracts of police officers are going to have to be contained. That's the fiscal reality a horrendous economy and exploding pension and health insurance costs have created in a place burdened by taxes among the highest in the nation....
Unions control Nassau's fate

Wrong again..Joe Mondello, almost singularly, has controlled Nassau County since Margiotta got pinched by the Feds in the early 80's. Do [at least] me a favor, if not all of us...try doing some homework before you cut & paste another is a series of poorly researched & written Newsday editorials/articles, OK?

Is that a union horse...if so, it never had to pull more than 2.5 pounds for no more than 1.2367 miles without getting a 30 minute hay break. If it is required to pull more at least 3 other union horses have to assist with a shop forehorse in attendance and will receive free veterinary care for life

Wall street banks caused this financial mess not unions. The wall street criminals are recording record profits and bonuses. But then again they control the corporate media so lets bash the little guys paying taxes and working everyday in the unions.

True we cant blame the little guy unionist for causing this recession...most dont have either the smarts or ambition to cause anything to happen except the opening of their daily six pack of Bud

Or we could, you know, do what I said in that other thread, like consolidating school, water, fire districts, eliminating wasteful and expensive duplication of administration, etc. I guess you don't really care about solving problems, though, like most teabaggers.
