I tip anyone that does work in or outside my house. I even offer them something to eat or drink. got that from my parents.
Yes I do the same except for the eating part, I do offer a hot or cold beverage. In fact when sears did my siding in august I kept refilling a pictcher with ice water for the men and I provided plastic cups.. I tip the mailman, hairdresser, garbage man, people who do construction on my house in or out. Most of the time the workers won't take a tip.
Recently I did, normally, I don't. Cable signal went kaput, cable guy came out on a Saturday, crawled on the roof, ventured into the attic (It was over 95 outside) reran all cables, replaced the box...2 hours later still no signal.
He left and returned on Monday with another new box, it worked, seems the other "new" one was defective..who knew?
He reprogrammed everything, and yes, I tipped him..$20.00.
Heavens no. Why do people need a tip to do their job? Do not start that.
because if they treat you and your house with respect, you tip them. its called "manners". I tip them if they come out on the weekends as well. who wants to work on the weekends?
I would never consider tipping the cable/FIOS guy he's doing his job.
the next time a repairman comes to your house, ask them how much they make then you may reconsider not tipping the person.
