It's nothing more than wannabe hippies who've seen V for Vendetta one too many times trying to live out their revolutionary fantasies like a bunch of Star Wars dorks at a Comic Con.
It's funny how people conveniently use history for one argument and ignore it for others... Like the US doesn't have a long history of organized protest and even a significant history of violent protest. For some it seems we're exporting their brains with all of our jobs.
Dismissing these people isn't smart... You don't need to make the jump to comparing them to the ME and directly oppressive regimes. You just have to look at Europe to get a glimpse into what innumerable young, unemployed, and having nothing to lose people will act like when faced with austerity measures (which almost certainly are on the way here with the GOP agenda).
It makes me wonder what people think these kids are supposed to do as you take their future away.

The best is when the critics tell the protestors to "get a job."
Actually, that's one of the things they are demonstrating for: Jobs. As in, they spend all of this money on college educations to build lives and careers for themselves, and there are no jobs to be had.
If any of you class warriors, hippie wannabees, or just low lifes want to occupy anywhere on long island...please join me and pequa in massapequa park...we are planning to occupy village hall or the seven bars in the town. All are welcome to spill their angst over a nice cold brew

Isn't this just a little dramatic?
These kids' future has not been taken away, not by any stretch of the imagination.
And here's what they can do:
1)Be happy they learned the lesson that it is bad to incur a large amount of debt without a sure way to pay it off, early in life. Gives them a lifetime to work on that debt. And they'll never do that again, great lesson to learn early.
2)Get a job right now doing anything they can to start paying that debt off. Another lesson they are learning, responsibility.
3)If they don't like the idea of getting just any old job that's fine, they have another option. They can stop expecting someone else to give them a job in their chosen field, instead go out on their own and start their own business in that field. Another great lesson, learning to be independent.

Austerity measures = taking their future away? You've got to be kidding!
Yes, Europe is a great example, of what happens when a society gets fat and lazy and feel entitled to live the good life while putting little or no effort into working for what they have. If the whiny kids with too much time on their hands are upset, then we are probably doing something right.

The whinny kids are probably part of the entitled generation...the offspring of all the helicopter parents on here that want their mensa darling to go to the best school district to get into harvard and major in english lit. Then they wonder why they have no job and must protedt about that. Makes you wonder about all the posters on here that want to find a cheap tradesman to fix their house problem. They just dont get it....the world has changed..no one wants to hire their gifted idiot if they cant fix the plumbing.
Of course when this thing eventually dies down their excuse will be 'But we planted the seeds, maaaan' just like all of the meaningless war protests over the past 10 years.
And just like all thise flower jerks from the 60s. The ones with good jobs now that wont show their kids any pics from their younger days.
Saw those losers downtown yesterday...oh yeah, america will be following them.
