What is the benefit of living in Rockville Centre if part of Oceanside School District?
My wife and I are considering moving from Forest Hills to Rockville Centre. We like the community and the short commute to NYC.
One of the homes we looked at was in Rockville Centre but was part of the Oceanside School District. What is the benefit of living in RVC
--and paying higher home prices than Oceanside--if not in the RVC school district?
We are also going to look at Oceanside--have noticed the home prices are lower than in RVC.
Any other comments regarding RVC and/or Oceanside appreciated

RVC is incorporated, I do not believe Oceanside is. RVC is more Catholic, Oceanside more so Jewish. RVC is better for commuting than Oceanside. RVC schools are really good, Oceanside are good, but I think RVC is higher regarded. Those are the main issues.

RVC has its own electric utilities, which are cheaper compared to what you will pay for electric in Oceanside. Oceanside electric is provided by LIPA, which is one of the most expensive in the US. I don't think RVC schools are any better than Oceanside. The high school in RVC has more problems than Oceanside HS.

I don't know if they're typical Oceanside students. The person arrested for felony assault with a beer bottle is from Uniondale. I didn't know that Mickey D's now sells beer.

Hi All......we have lived in Oceanside for 28 years.....raised two children here and both went through the Oceanside school system. Oceanside is under the Town O Hempstead.....utility.....electric, is LIPA.....gas, KEYSPAN....taxes are payed to the Town of Hempstead.
We have sold our home here (downsizing) and plan to stay in Oceanside. If we want warm weather, we will take a vacation.
