I'm all for speed cameras, but 55MPH on most stretches of the LIE is ridiculous. East of 63 it should be 70, most of the rest should be 65 (these are the speed limits on the Garden State and the Turnpike in NJ), and then I'm fine with the cameras. Aw, what's wrong, your PBA card won't get you out of tickets anymore when you get pulled over doing 80? My heart weeps.

I agree too.. 55 needs to be bumped up, but breaking the law doesn't help change, it hurts it.
Although I don't think many LI drivers should be allowed to go faster than 55. They can barely handle it as is.

OP - Where did you hear or read this?
On a brighter note, if they have speeding ticket cameras, it would only be a fine and not any points on your license.

So, some of you actually prefer big brother over your shoulder? Just wondering what types of gov't. entitlements you receives since you're so beholden to these concepts. Perhaps you'd like the TV police in your living room, too. Or maybe even the whoopee cops in your bedroom to make sure everything going on there is acceptable. Also, a GPS collar around everyone's necks at all times. Let's just do it kayfouroh's way, I want to make sure my kids are properly registered, branded, and tracked, so when their nationality is demonized one day, perhaps their religion, political beliefs, etc, will make sure they are 'dealt with' properly. You go, KAYFOUROH!

I never said I am for big brother I said I am for people not breaking the law. If morons didn't do it in the first place, there would be no money for the government to make by putting up these cameras. Too much for you to understand??
Funny, I don't think I've been pulled over in YEARS. My secret? Not driving like an ass.

Oh, I understand clearly. I understood once that this is a free country, and if I choose to roll the dice and break the law, I can. Of course there may be consequences, but I'd rather not have the gov't breathing down everyone's backs any more than it already does. If you can't take the heat, stay off the roads. So, you believe that it's okay for the gov't to use this as a revenue generator? You think that's appropriate?

I think we get to reap what we sow with years of blatantly disregarding the law.
You talk about consequences... these are the consequences. Red light cameras because people think lights don't apply to them, speed cameras because people don't think VTL applies to them, increased law enforcement because people don't think that they need to follow the laws.

so then in theory... we wouldn't need as many cops for speed enforcement...

No, we can double the cops for kayfouroh. She'll then have her perfect utopian police state.
