Call News 12 and tell them your story. If everything is as you say they would definitely be interested in reporting it and it will be a lot of bad publicity for the auto shop. I'm not being sarcastic, being serious.
This is a good lesson for all. Use the repair shops that are suggested by your insurer or ones that you know have a good rep. I would never bring my car to a dealer for body work...they are only going to sub it out
A few years ago a tree also fell on my car. I called the dealer and they said up front that they do not do body work. State farm came out and looked at the car before I had the tree removed from it, and they gave me an estimate to repair it.
When I took it to my choice of body shops, it was no problem at all. Everything was done and it cost well over $4000.
Lesson learned ; dealers do not do body work and get an estimate before you touch a thing.

also call ''help me howard'' with channel 11 ,he would have fun with this one !!
V&J is actually a very good body shop, the owners name is John. They do awesome work. That said, I dont know anything about they're integrity. However, your insurance should cover the entire cost of the repair as long as:
A: you have comprehensive insurance.
B: you pay your deductible
C: there is no lapse in your payments to the insurance company.
You have the ultimate say in what get's repaired and what doesnt as long as the damage doesnt extend to what they consider " safety equipment" airbags, antilock brakes, seatbelts etc...
You can pull your car out of a body shop at any time and completely refuse to have it repaired at that shop. you can pick your own shop, one that is comfortable for you... there is another one right around the corner called Amap, Nick is the owner...really nice guy... also a "high quality shop"
TJA is also around the corner, ask for Mike, another really nice guy. they will work with you.
call your insurance company, check your paperwork, they had no right to take your car apart without authorization. If you signed something at Honda then they might have given the authorization. you have to figure out what you signed.
