I am currently living in Florida - time to go. In my heart I always want to go back to Long Island but don't know if it is really feasable after being gone for almost nine years. We are thinking about the Greenville area of South Carolina or The outskirts of Raleigh - Wake Forest / Cary / Apex. I was just wondering if any Long Islanders have left Long Island, moved to SC or NC hated it wanted to go back home to Long Island, went back home to Long Island and realized that they made a mistake and should have stayed where they were in SC or NC?
Any advice will help. Thanks Fallgirl |

It really is very simple - I left LI and live in Florida - I am done - I want out. I would love to return to LI but it is just too expensive because I am gone almost nine years - I have looked in South Carolina and North Carolina and have read posts on both boards and a ton of Long Islanders have moved there, some love it some hate it and some have moved back - I am just trying to find out if people did exactly what I asked - I know it sounds confusing but hopefully someone will understand and respond. We grew up in Nassau and traveled all over winding up in Raleigh, NC 18 years ago.
Do miss the public transit in LI/NY area but could never afford to return. After over 20 years in the South, we've learned to love it. |
