It's funny, I used to live in Queens, but rarely do I go to the NYC threads...I do, but not very often. This area is flooded with "ex-pats" and malcontents and I just don't get it.
So, this thread is for people to not ***** about LI. Not sure how to start it or if anyone else will post, but here it is.

I'm here. I love it here and cannot wait to buy a house for almost twice what I paid for my current house 4 years ago. We look everyday and are very excited at the prospects!

Same here. I have NEVER been to those threads. I think Queens sukks but you won't find me complaining about how dirty or congested it is. Why rain on other's parades? They live there and either love it or can't leave for some reason. Why take them down?
With all of it's shortcommings, and there are many, I still love Long Island. It was where I grew up and where I raised my kids. I love the beaches and the bluffs on the sound. I love the change of seasons. For the most part, the people are good and down to earth. I enjoy the wineries and the restaurants. I like the proximity to NYC and the cultural opportunities that presents.
GC - despite our differences in some matters I congratulate you on trying to start this thread.

I came over here after spending months on the NC boards preparing for our move there. I got great, unbiased info from people who had been there for a long time. So, I thought I'd check out the NY board to see if I could help anyone else about LI. Since I have been in NC a year I do not say too much anymore!
I love Long Island, I just don't like some of the people.
