She said "your moving to Pocky Point? Why would you want to move here? There's nothing here but Rocks. The only good thing is the school district. There's so many nicer places like Pt Jeff." I told her price was one deciding factor and she told me I should search out forclosures in better areas. This is a person who works at Rocky Point Middle school.
It got me thinking...are we making some hideous mistake by considering Rocky Point. We drove around the area and liked it. Is there something I'm missing here?
Maybe she meant "Rocks" as in drugs??

Rocky Point Schools vs. Drugs

its possible. Either way that person needs to be removed from Rocky Point for being a realist and lack of town pride. Someone needs to call the Rocky Point cheerleading squad to action please...

hendy, let me ask you a question....

or two

1. Have you went thru the town and area ?

2. Did you like what you see, did you go there at different times or did you go there look at THE house and leave... like most people do and then ***** like idiots when they find out the guy behind them works from home and he is a dog trainer dealing with behavior issue dogs...

3. Did you spend some time in the neighborhood, talking with people and going around the immediate blocks to see what you are moving INTO. . .

Done any of that, if so then you can either take what the person on the phone said and have YOU'RE own intelligent assessment of what Rocky point is to you...

OR

Make another mistake in asking people here, WHO are clearly not you, and do not share what you like most likely and then take there word or advice....

Go look for yourself. . .

.

That is sound advice. We drove throught town quite a bit. But didn't really get to talk to anyone as we were pressed for time this time around. Before we make any final decisions we will be going back again and spending more time there and trying to get more info. That's one of the reasons I contacted the school...
It just seemed like a strange thing for her to say and I thought maybe someone from up there could give me insight as to why.
People's posts will definitely not be the deciding factor in where we end up. There's too many conflicting opinions anyway.

PS The dog training scenario made me laugh. I'm sure that has happened.

In my experience being all around the country. Ppl who have been in the same place for a decent amount of time will negatively about the place just out of habit.

Sound advice is to cruise that place for a while, get in see the school, the kids, the teachers. Meet some neighbors. If you are going to invest a significant amount of dollars, might as well invest a significant amount of time beforehand making sure you are doing the right thing.
