Quote:
Officer Garrett J. Mannerz resigned from the Nassau Police Department effective immediately, and will complete 80 hours of community service, prosecutors said.

Mannerz was initially charged with felony bribe receiving and three misdemeanors: sexual abuse, coercion, and official misconduct.
All he got was community service. The connected ARE different from the rest of us ...

Wonder if he's even losing his pension.

Shouldn't he also be registered as a sex offender?

Geez, I only thought the cream of the crop supermen types were hired by LI police forces.

This is a BIG story! Newsday has it directly below their top story, "Lindsay Lohan ordered back to jail for 30 days!"

There are bad apples in every profession (including teachers.) And they are not tolerated by fellow officers.

For those with minimal knowledge of the workings of the police department, yes, he will lose his pension.

And as for the quality of persons hired by the Department, one need only look to the west to see what happens when lesser quality (and lesser paid) officers are hired.

First off back in June I said this guy was an idiot for doing this.

The loss of one's pension is punishment enough.

Pdcnret..You do know that half of the NCPD hired over the last 6 years have been former NYPD.

A quote from the novel "Animal Farm" by George Orwell:

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

Just curious why he would lose his conviction since normally that is no the case, even the Roslyn Superintenedent, so does that mean the cop who drew his gun on the bartender may also lose his pension. I can only assume that is part of the contract particular to NCPD.

Since the NCPD qualification is primarily test scores why so many NYPD?

" But Mannerz's lawyer and Nassau Police Benevolent Association president James Carver said he is vested and can apply to receive pension payments when he turns 55. "

So much for minimal knowledge of the workings of the police department.

Anyone with even minimal knowledge of the workings of the police department know that statement is an absolute lie.
