Threaten to switch to one of the satellite providers. AFAIK, they are allowed anywhere on LI.

I had Direct tv, it was awful whenever it snows, rains, or even a big windstorm. I would never get any reception. For this reason I cut Directtv and went back to cablevision. I pay 110 for triple play with a extra box.

I dont' have fios yet.

Thanks.
I have Optimum, which is serviced by CV. I think I got a discount since I signed up for a new service when I moved in. If they raise my prices down the line i'm taking my business elsewhere.

It's plenty fast to stream HD and 5.1 through Netflix and Hulu. Even 1080p if I rent with Vudu.

How didn't they deliver?

I'm assuming your father HAS an HDTV, you advised them at the time you wanted HD for the HDTV and you've tried accessing the HD channels since the installation.

So, assuming all that.....what did they or did they not do?

my father has 3 hdtvs. one tv had and hd wire. the second tv had coaxial cable coming from the box and the third, which was in the kitchen, had a little brown box, about the size of an ash tray, with another coaxial cable coming from it. Now how does verizon get away with this service?

I don't care how ugly the fios devices are, fios will always be superior to cable IMO. Please do us a favor and stop supporting the Dolans.

I'm no particular fan of the Dolans but why is supporting Verizon any better? If you like the product better, fine...so why "stop supporting the Dolans?" Verizon are no princes. They rule every piece of NYC backbone infrastruture like the Gestapo. Sure, they pretend to NOT be part of Ma Bell but they were. The forced deregulation allowed for other providers to supply better service to customers but lo, they have to LEASE the sewer pipes to run their lines from Verizon because Ma bell has owned them since pre-1900. The govt forced competition but ALL of the competitors STILL have to go through Verizon. To service their customers they have to PAY Verizon for their crappy backbone infrastructure that they happen to have inherited from the parent company in the breakup and were obtained corruptly last century. Like we ripped off the Indians for Manhattan, that's how Verizon got all the wiring that runs under it.

Buy whatever you like, but telling people not to "support" a LI business just hurts LI.
