I was born and raised on the Island, but it's been awhile. I have a first date that I'd like to go without a hitch. I'm looking for someplace pretty fancy in Nassau County. I don't really want to do the city, as logistics might be a hassle.

So the preference is a nice place, moderately priced, but pretty decent food with a nice, romantic ambiance. We'd like to dress up a bit too, so somewhere we wouldn't be too overdressed. I'd prefer a French place, or Steakhouse if possible. Just fyi I'm staying in the Plainview/Syosset area if it helps.

Oh and if you recommend a cool place for drinks after, that would be great!

Thanks in advance!

For steaks I would go to either Peter Lugers or Rothman's.
La Coquille

1669 Northern Blvd.
Manhasset, NY 11030 French food

For drinks I am not too sure

Yes but it's worth it even if you go only once. They only take cash. If you are lucky enough to qualify for the peter luger credit card I think the limit on that is $500. My husband's boss has it and he said it's a hard credit card to get. Rothman's takes cash and credit cards I believe. Make your reservations for the places i recommended at least 3 days in advance, bcause on weekends they book fast.

Peter Lugers does take debit cards now. I know, because I used one last month there. No credit cards, but debit cards are okay.

have not been there in ages but Franks steakhouse in westbury on Jericho turnpike might be a bit more reasonable than Peter Lugars or Ruth Cris.

Lets get to the bottom line here. Don't go too expensive on the first date...you don't know even if you will have a second one.
