We live on the North Fork of Long Island and usually take sunrise hwy to vets to the airport, but last week there was a lot of construction delays on sunrise. Does anyone know if this construction is there on a daily basis? If so, is there a better route to take to the airport? Thanks.

If you take the expressway depending how convenient that is for you and head west till you get to Nicholls Rd.(exit 62). then take Nicholls south and take that to the sunrise entrance but stay on vets highway when it splits. Usually the traffic is reasonable.

the construction has been hit and miss. One day it took me 45 min to go 3 miles on Vets HWY, the next day there was almost no backup!!

Thanks! I guess we'll try the Expressway then. I'll be a nervous wreck about missing our flight if sunrise backs up again.

Usually the expressway moves well and rush hour usually doesn't effect the exits east of 61 that much when you are going west.

LIE West> Ronkonkoma Ave. South > Left on Lakeland Ave. > Left onto Vets > Entrance on your left at Johnson Ave.
