Trust me I know all about GTL and Fuccos. Mass and Mass Park are nowhere near as Italian as you deep suffolk people make them out to be.
I had the privilege of working in massapequa in a setting that really let's you get to know your patients for 11 years, so I know what it's all about. More BS than anything else.

I see. Well Like I said I am not wasting anymore time defending. You said in your last post you are "glad I am happy where I live" yet I have stated several times I am not living here by choice and I am leaving shortly.

No hard feelings Kelly...I am busting your chops for the most part - I have lived on both opposite ends of the Island. Every town/area offers something different. Personally I prefer somewhere in the middle between city and rural, I will end up mid Island somewhere.

Best

If you fear for your life in Shirley, you really are pretty sheltered and have never been to a real low class area.

The reservation? Lol It is fine and the people there are nice. You obviously have never been there. Not to mention it is in Mastic and this thread is about Shirley. So the rez = irrelevant.

Are you just mad because you live in the most underdeveloped, boring, town of nothingness Long Island has to offer? Ridge is the home of hicks with cars parked on lawns and people that don;t know how to deal with the rest of the Island because they are so secluded and empty. You do know you could be living your simple country life upstate for much much cheaper right?
Let's try to do this without insulting people.

The Rez is relevant as it is a bordering area and Shirley is impacted by it.

Thank you!

P.S. I love Oakdale, the stretch from there to Blue Point on the S shore is beautiful and my favorite area of LI...you did live there for a long time right? correct me if I am confusing you with someone else on the forum...lol.

Shirley has much much easier access to major highways.

Montauk, Sunrise, Expressway all are within 1-5 miles depending on where you live.

Train station too. Wheres the nearest one to RP? Port Jeff? ~_~

RP as to drive for decades just to get to a normal flowing highway..or anything of interest for that matter. So it helps Shirley not feel so "far out" since Sunrise moves nicely. RP you get that real true "where the hell am I" feeling. Also there is tons more shopping in Shirley.

And Peqs - East Yaphank is most defnitely not a CDP, it is however another accepted name for Shirley by the USPS. It is not a separate area though. Just another rinky dink sign. Just like South Setauket is Centereach zip 11720
2010 Census
Mean Travel time to work:
Shirley = 32.4 mins
Rocky Point = 34 mins

figured.

And yeah you are right. Shirley/East Yaphank is exactly like S Setauket/Centereach type of thing.

I was looking for such thing....
I would want to see a "miles to work" also to remove the skewed stats, not just for these 2, but all towns on LI. Also would be helpful is break up of % of commuters travelling how far, anyone got a link ?

Kelly, I am doing my best to convince my girlfriend to leave Rocky Point. She even sees now that it is going downhill fast....stores closing, drugs, gangs, white trash spandex crowd all over the place. Unfortunately she moved originally from Queens and didn't look close enough before she moved.
She is in the newer section which is not quite the same level of despair as the old section.

Sorry that you moved out there. Terrible mistake....but maybe it's for the best. Maybe you feel more comfortable in your own socio-economic environment.

See the problem is that most Suffolkians live in a time warp and rarely drive out of their enviroment. I doubt most of the posters here have been west of Rte 110 in over 20 years.
