If you live in Rocky Point there is no need for any type of gas or oil. Houses heat themsevles and cars run on the magical goodness that fills the hamlet.

your problem is you're a repeat customer. In this business you need to switch around to keep the lowest prices, unfortunately. So glad I have gas in this house now. Dealing with finding a contract every year was a royal pain in the a$$.

BTW, only do COD if you have a relatively new burner which won't likely have problems. If you're stuck with an older boiler, definitely do a service contract. Like someone said, they get you either way. Simply stated, shop around.

Update: I got the oil delivered today, and it was actually 3.89 per gal. I called yesterday to ask the price, and they quoted me 4.19. They gave me this quote, knowing who I was because I gave them the address. I don't know if my shock and complaint about the price led to the drop, but I'm grateful for whatever I can get. I will be shopping around for a new contract. I like the Slomins deal that was in a previous post.

Unfortunately, I don't live in Rocky Point. However I do live close. Maybe if I open my windows in the winter, some of that hot air will flow in.

I think you are absolutely right. For the past 2 years, it seems that I am paying more than everyone else. I did like their service, but the increase in price is not worth the level of service any longer. I know COD is much less expensive, but mechanical and handyman skills are most lacking in my household. I like to know I can call someone right away if the boiler breaks down. I will take your advice and shop every year. Loyalty is only admirable if it works both ways.
