First I'm hearing of this as I got a flyer in the mail. $50mil annually in tax revenue and they mention the 2% property tax cap being implemented so the schools need help in other ways such as that. Is this going to benefit all nassau county schools? In one place it only mentions Syosset. Your thoughts?
EDIT>> Robbins Lane? Seems like an old revived project...
That property is the former Cerro Wire and Cable Company plant and is solely within the Syosset Central School District, and hence all school district property taxes levied on that property goes to that school district.
based on the pictures in newsday last week it looked more like dozens instead of hundreds were there to protest. If I had to guess, I'd say a large number of those protesting were Jericho residents zoned for Jericho schools.

This is hilarious.
Fighting the building of a new MALL for crying out loud ... for 18 years!
OMG! A MALL wants to come to Oyster Bay!
Yet they'll turn a blind eye to illegal alien flophouses in Oyster Bay so they can have cheap servants.
Too bad the rest of us have to reap what they sow.

The Mall's name is misleading, the proposed location is in Syosset - well South of Jericho Turnpike.
I suppose the builder thinks 'Oyster Bay' sounds better than 'Syosset' (and they are both in the Town of Oyster Bay a commentor is sure to point out). Since the Robbins Lane (Syosset) area is dead set against it, this Mall is not going to happen in any case.

It's safe to say they're getting quite a bit of support from their neighbors just west of Robbins Lane in Jericho (who wouldn't be receiving any tax benefits from the mall).

While the neighbors just west of Robbins Lane have a "Jericho, NY 11753" mailing address, they are actually in Syosset, as well as in the Syosset Central School District.
