In my 45 years of driving I have never seen a traffic sign mounted on the pole of a street sign. I would think a functional sign would be posted well before the corner, not AT the corner. It totally looks like an afterthought.
That being said, I have amassed a total of three traffic tickets in those 45 years. Two of the three I received were in Huntington Village !

A sign that is legal is installed on its own post and is roughly 20 feet before the corner in order to give drivers ample time to take it in.

Which is one more reason why this sign is illegal.

I brought this fact up to the sleazy lawyer at DMV in Hauppauge, and she just blew it off. Figures.

I was pulled over 3 different times this year on St. Patrick's day. They all suspected I was DWI...driving while Irish. I stopped drinking 10 years ago so fortunately the cops had nothing on me, but I don't ever, ever want to hear again about "white privelage" or racial profiling from minorities. The only reason I was targeted was because of my skin color - and the fact I had on a dressy shirt. What else would a pale skinned, dressed up white guy be doing on St. Pattys day but drinking and driving?
