Don't they make under paddings that allow air flow to dry up moisture? I think they are made of a special type of rubber.

You can buy carpet pad that is moisture resistant.

i always have a dehumidifier running-we used a low pile/commercial type berber. our basement is a playroom-the carpet is soft enough but doesnt wash or seem to be wearing well. i would put something with a thicker pile in next time-

In carpet stores they recommended either berber or commercial carpet... that's all they told us!

I would think Pergo might be a better choice than carpet. For warmth , you can use a large berber area rug.
