A tread was posted a few months ago for "yea/na" on skylights.

However, i need to replace 2 of them. Anyone know a good installer? Mine came with the house. They were not installed correctly and I need to replace them.
I always like Anderson. However, they really do not have much of a selection.

Mid Suffolk here

Suggestions?
Thanks!

Hi, I am having my 45 x 45 center hall sky light replaced this week.

Mine is an insula dome brand. When I called Window-Rama the guy I spoke to was very helpful. He said that insula dome went out of business and found a replacement for me with another company. He also gave me a list of licensed and insured contractors to call.

I only need my hatch and hinge replaced. So basically the skylight frame/box stays in place and they are replacing the part that opens. I had a small crack and after Irene, the whole thing got cracked and I'm afraid It won't last the winter.

Anyway, you have to call all the numbers they give you because some contractors are way overpriced. One quoted me $550.00 to do the install. (my hatch & hinge from window-rama is $545.00) Another quoted me $150.00. The guy for $150.00 came over, went on my roof to make sure what I needed and placed the order.

That's my story, hope it helps you out.

yes, the website is still functional but if you call the number, the company is a different name. You had me concerened thinking Window Rama was doing me wrong so I called the number to verify if it was true that Insula Dom went out of business and the women said yes.

ahhh thanks for letting me know. Our contractor had suggested Insula Dome years ago because they had a built in "lip" that helped prevent leakage ... so far so good ....

I needed replacements for my Insula-Dome Skylights last month too. I called the Insula-Dome number also and was given a number to another skylight company by an answering service. The other company was called Skylight Specialist. They were very helpful and had exactly what I needed in stock. They even installed my new tops for me.
