Once, while having dinner in a restaurant on the North Shore, a big roach crawled casually across our table - a Gold Coast roach! Of course they live on Long Island.

All Arachnids (Spiders) have venom. It's how they paralyze their prey. 99% of them are not however deadly to humans. I believe the 3 most dangerous to us here are the Black Widow, the Brown Recluse and the Hobo Spider. Check out: Spiderzrule
(I love spiders-fascinating creatures)

Back when Rainforest Cafe was still at The Source in Westbury, a large Roach was crawling on the chair my daughter almost sat on. Needless to say we never returned and they closed a year later.

I forgot to mention wolf spiders - my neighbor, who is an avid gardener, has seen them in the wooded area behind our back yards. He wears a rubber suit when he's out there.

Roaches can come home with you in those brown paper grocery bags. That happened to us once, after which we located the nest, sprayed it like crazy and chased the pests away. They never came back, nor did we bring those bags home. Re-usable bags or plastic, thank you very much.

I saw a show once where someone had brought home a bunch of bananas and went to take one only to discover a huge spider lurking behind. They cought it and had it analized. It was a deadly spider but I forget which kind. I think the sow was on discovery or animal planet. Thankfully no one was bit.
