I went over there, Nassau County, for a week and heard they were talking about the MTA will no longer exist started in January, that Nassau will have their own public transportation. The bus driver were telling people to sign a petition, that they need 40,000 signatures in 10 days and that right now they have 10,000. Is this true?

The MTA will continue to operate the LIRR, but the bus system will be operated by a private company.

Nassau County has been short-changing the MTA for years, and the MTA finally said that, since the County doesn't want to pay more, they're going to pull out and let them run the service on their own, and so they hired Veolia to run it, which they'll do starting in January.
