I am interested in buying a co-op on Village Dr. in Hauppauge but I am concerned about the landfill nearby. Can anyone give me information regarding odors in the summer, noise from passing trucks heading to the landfill, any environmental issues I should be concerned with.
Thank you all in advance,
Kathy

Drive through and ask some of the people who live there. That's what I did when I was looking for my first place.

If its the one on Motor Pkwy and Mount Pleasant, I believe it only accepts construction debris so there shouldn't be any rotting food odors or flocks of seagulls.

I was thinking of asking people in the community but I'm afraid I won'r get an honest answer especially if they may be thinking of selling in the future.

I've never seen much traffic for that landfill. Also, would drive past it all the time and never noticed any smells.

Random. That smell is the methane gas seeping out from the landfill.
