Prices are expected to drop through the rest of the year as supply is currently outpacing demand. Guess we better drill baby drill though.

How many gallons does a 1600sqft home uses per month (Approximately)? And how much will it cost?

Depends on several things:

1) The house -- 1 or 2 floors? Insulation? Type of windows? Zones?
2) The users -- like it hot? like it cool? Hot water fiends?
3) Contract or COD: set price and service plan or COD and gamble for lower price.
4) Winter temps

My home is a couple of hundred square feet larger, one level, 5 zones, a fireplace to supplement in one zone, I prefer a cooler house. Some of the original windows have a lot of character but are drafty. I have a teenager who believes hot showers should last upwards of 30 minutes. Reviewing my receipts, I used 1130 gallons from April 2011 through March 2012. Prices varied from low $3's to a high of $3.669/gal for approximately $4,000.00 for the year.

Because drill, frack, drill had no effect on Nat Gas prices over the last 10-20 years...

Cash on Delivery

I get a better price than those on contract, however if something goes wrong, I have to get someone in to repair the system and pay for things that the contract might cover. It's a gamble.

For about that size ranch 3BR/2B, with very frugal use and no small children, from my spreadsheet:

for 2011 (11/2010 to 11/2011):
650gal, $2550, average price per gal: $3.92

for 2012 (11/2011 to today):
317gal, $1420, average price per gal: $4.48

Petro contract, no locked price ... bad price.

I know! Did not have time to address it, the last delivery in March was at $4.73/gal (these are including taxes but still...).

Petro left bad taste in my mouth... Moving to a new house and need to decide what to do.
