Sorry, I'm not involved in the politics of Patchogue so I won't pretend to know how the core issues are being addressed.
What I understand is that those core issues, especially the school's will take some time to resolve. My friend who is a Babylon Village resident of 15 years and also a realtor told me BV used to have a less than desireable SD. But improvement to the area attracted people that eventually brought the SD scores back up.
Who's to say Patchogue won't follow in those footsteps?

Too bad I'm closer to 40.
The village is starting to resemble a college town at night. This is a good thing.

Makes it easier for Clare Rose to keep the deliveries local
I worked with Mayor Pontieri in the mid 80's at Clare Rose venture. He was great at following the orders of the upper echelon. I have to wonder how much of the change we're seeing comes down to Pontieri through Rose?

I lived in BV 23 years ago and it was very attractive then as it is now. (I can't speak for the schools, but all I can state is that I never heard anyone disparage BV schools) You didn't see the absentee landlord problem which has seriously manifested itself in Patchogue. You didn't see loitering or crimes like the tragic Lucero death. PatMed's reputation has unfortunately been less than stellar going back as far as I can recall in the late 70's. The influx of more ESL students into the district doesn't help it now.
Patchogue always reminded me of Bayshore -- a once decent town fallen on hard times, bruised and battered, in need of a helping hand up.
They've definitely worked to improve the Main St, bring shoppers and visitors into the area -- along with their money -- and make the area economically viable and aesthetically pleasing. That's certainly a step in the right direction. Reasonably priced apartments to draw in young people and retirees -- who don't need the schools -- will keep it vibrant.

As compared with the sophistication of the Nassau socialites like Amy Fisher and Joey Buttafuco...

Can you come up with some retort that doesn't refer to an incident that happened 20 years ago?
Of course you don't refute that a significant portion of SuffDump is populated by the spandex/pickup truck crowd.

Yes all of those are such low class areas
Add Sayville, Oakdale, Bayport, Blue Point, Babylon too. These are also dumps. Oh and the Hamptons? definitely no classy people there.
Suffolk was around wayyyyy before Nassau. When I think of Long Island only Suffolk comes to mind. Nassau is a foster child of the city.

I'm not sure what any of this pissing has to do with the original topic.
I didn't say that Patchogue is a great place to live, I said it had a good bar scene.
Sheesh.

Slaves, sure! Hazing, yeah it happened. I can't believe you dared to mention that one though!
