Its a TEST, they CHEATED. They get the zero, a letter to the colleges, and thats it. There is no reason why we need to spend TENS of thousands on this nonsense circus.

Besides cheating on the test, real, actual laws were broken. What the point of having laws if they are not enforced?

How much was spent. There are many things that impact the quality of life, you just can't expect the DA to go after murderers and ignore grafitti. Some crimes are more important than others, that doesn't mean you just ignore the minor crimes. This investigation is money well spent, if it sends a message and generates more oversight in the future.

These kids should get punished, if not to at least to set an example to younger generations who think that just because the harm isnt visible to them, that they arent causing harm throughout the entire system. Its a question of teaching kids honesty and integrity. If we let them get away with cheating on the SAT, whats to stop them from cheating on other tests later down the road? maybe even cheating on tests where life/death issues are at stake- where do we draw the line?? The reason these kids dont think it was bad is because they watch TV and see white collar criminals get a jail sentence at a fancy pants prison like Madoff or "house arrest" - they see this and think "oh thats not that bad..its like getting a 10 yr sentence for securities fraud.."

Its not right and it has to stop..

Exactly. The "broken windows theory" was what helped turn around NYC from a criminal snakepit to what it is today.

You have to wonder, dishing out that much money is significant for a HS student if they are actually working at the grocery store. Some parents don't ask enough questions but the smart money says a decent percentage were involved. I do have to wonder about the income background of some of these families that were involved, won't break the bank for even low income but still have to wonder.

Some of the helicopter parents may have taken it to th enext level.
