My son was quoted $850 for a full year on a 95 Buick Century...bare minimun coverage but it still looks too low. Anything to watch out for?

Does he live with you? If so, and you have an umbrella policy, and they are quoting him minimum policy limits, then you could have a problem. Also, make sure they are selling him an entire policy - very rare but I've seen places sell just liability and then whoops! you need to get all your other mandated coverage elsewhere. Like I said that's rare. The umbrella gap is your bigger issue.

$850 for an ENTIRE YEAR? I'd think he'd be paying that for only 6 months! Who is he insured with? If he's not with a reputable company, I'd be very careful.... Also, what does his driving record look like? How long has he been driving on his own? Any accidents? Tickets?

That has to be for 6 months. When I was "shopping" for car insurance they did the same thing to me. $650 for my 1999 Honda accord. I had to reconfirm: "oh yes that was for 6 months" I'm much older with no accidents/tickets.

I agree, it has to be 6 months. My wife and I are both well over 25 and pay almost $2000 a year for a mini van and an escort. No collision or fire and theft, we do have glass coverage on the mini van.

Also get a multi policy discount, no accidents or violations last 20 years
