At the Nov 6 Town Board meeting they made it a law.Just another way to rob the home owner. As long as a panel is "UL"approved why should the town want more $$ from me?I guess my tax assessment will also go up.

There is some law that prevents towns from raising taxes because of the value added by a solar installation.

Mo' inspections, mo' money.

We've been approached by a solar company to do their pre-install roofing work. Long story short -- they want their product to be placed on a new roof -- not one which has been roofed over, or which might have other issues.

It would appear to me that by requiring a permit, it allows the town to come in and inspect that the roof and rafters are up to code as well as let them see whatever other improvements have been made without the benefit of a permit.

I wonder whether it will prevent people from considering solar.
